Should You Hire a Bridal Hairstylist?

This is a question I’m sure you, as a bride to be, have asked yourself at some point, whether you are having an elopement or a full on wedding. My answer: 1000% yes! And not necessarily for the reasons you may think. Yes, I am a bridal hairstylist and this post may come across as self promoting. It’s not! I genuinely want to help you make the best decision for you. Whether you hire me or not, at least think about some of the reasons I discuss below.

Your bridal look is in almost every picture from your special day.

That includes your hair, makeup, dress/outfit, jewelry and any other accessories you choose to wear. These pictures, that you are investing your money in, will reflect the effort you put into your total bridal look. You do not want to look back at your wedding or elopement pictures with regret about how your hair, makeup, etc. looks. Trust me that I have heard it from several women that they did not love their hair on their wedding day. When you don’t love something about the way you look in your wedding pictures, it's like that imperfection is all you can see. There are no do overs in weddings and elopements. It’s not like you can recreate or relive the day to fix this mishap.

Your hair is one less thing to worry about.

You may have highly textured hair that you want smooth and polished on your elopement day. Or you may have super straight hair that no matter what you do, your hair will not hold a curl for you but you want soft waves for your bridal look. You could be a bride with curly hair that loves her curls but always ends up with frizz at the end of the day and your wedding is taking place outside in a bit of humidity. Instead of worrying and stressing about what to do with your hair or how your hair will hold up throughout the day, pause. There are hair professionals out there that have years of experience styling hair just like yours. They would be happy to help you achieve the bridal hair look that you are going for. They would love to take that stress away from you because to them, it is not stress, but a way to exhibit their skillset and craft.

You want your family/friends to enjoy getting ready with you instead of working on your special day.

I get it that you may have a sister, cousin or aunt who does hair well. They may even be a professional hairstylist and want to gift you and your bridal party hair services for your wedding day. In theory, this is kind and sweet. On the flip side, they may want to chill and relax with you as everyone gets ready on your special day. If they have never worked a wedding party before, they may not be accustomed to timelines for each person or they may not have the knowledge of styling a bridesmaid with curls, coils or highly textured hair. Don’t leave your best friend’s hair to chance that it may work out with Aunt Catherine styling it.

You deserve to treat yourself.

You have put in all of this time, energy, money, creativity, etc into planning your elopement/wedding day. Some things may have been stressful. I know you have fought with a lot of unsolicited opinions from friends and family about what you should do for your special day. You have researched venues, caterers, bridal dress shops, hotels, all the things to put together your day of how you would like for it to look and feel. It has basically become a part time job while you are still dealing with your everyday life too. Everything has come together nicely and you just want to relax and focus on marrying your soon to be spouse. Allow yourself to indulge: get your nails done, hire a wedding hairstylist and makeup artist, schedule a spa treatment. Whatever you need to do to help yourself relax and show up to your wedding day as your best self, do it!

If any of these reasons has resonated with you, then please consider hiring a bridal hairstylist for your wedding or elopement day. Take the time to research them and go for a hair trial to ensure they are a good fit for you. Afterwards, smile knowing that you just made one of the best decisions possible to ensure your wedding day is relaxed and awesome!! And if you love my work and this post has been helpful, let’s connect!
